This internship (10-month) program is for students interested in a professional intercultural experience in France or Mexico.
Most applicants have been accepted into a university program and granted a deferral, are currently enrolled in a university program with department permission to spend a year off campus, or have graduated within the past two years.
Andégo Internships Abroad is generally able to sponsor you if you are not currently enrolled in a university program or if you attend a university without a gap year procedure in place.

Program Highlights:
Assist the English department at your host school plan lessons, lead conversation groups, teach, and lead after-school study groups.
You may be asked to assist with other duties as assigned by the school.
Room and board will be provided by the host school in a local host family, in on-campus dorm-style housing, or in an apartment or studio. All interns will have the option to stay with a local host family on weekends and during school breaks.
Interns receive a monthly stipend (420 euros/month average) provided by the host school.
Travel during school holidays, pursue other activities, or explore your host city!
Earn up to 12 upper-level French credits through Portland State!

Program Costs in $USD
PAID TO ANDÉGO:
Program fee: $7,475 -for program setup, school placement, visa assistance, orientations, and support throughout the program.
PURCHASED BY PARTICIPANT:
Passport fee: $145 for new US passport; $130 for renewal. Passport must be valid for 3 months beyond departure date from France.
Schengen Insurance required for visa: $300 (approximate)
Visa fee: $150 (approximate)
Cost of travel to apply for the visa in person at a VFS Global centre.
Round-trip airfare to France
TOTAL COST ~$9,000- $9,500
You will receive a monthly stipend (~$450 USD/mo) while abroad to help cover personal expenses and travel.
Room and board is provided, cutting out most (if not all) food & lodging costs while abroad (unless traveling).
Applicants of teachers who are current members of the AATF (American Association of Teachers of French) receive an immediate $250 program fee reduction.

Program Timeline
this timeline is approximate
February-March: Submit your initial program application and $500 deposit
March-April: Complete and return detailed application & submit 1st payment (fully refunded if not matched with a school)
April: Schedule and complete your French Language Interview & request deferment from your university.
May: Find out where you will be placed & submit 2nd payment!
June: After you receive your placement, gather the remaining materials to apply for your visa.
June-July: Apply for your visa in person at a VFS Global Centre (USA & Canada) or local French consulate
End of July: Make final payment & participate in virtual orientation.
August: Participate in our 4-day in-person orientation in Angers, France!
Arrive at your host school end of August to get settled before school starts!
